Production services

If you have rough recorded tracks but are looking for your song to be fully arranged, fleshed out and brought to life, your songs need to be produced. We offer full production services for rock, hip-hop and acoustic music.

Production can mean different things to different producers/artists, but generally producing entails adding complimentary textures and appropriate melodic instruments, percussive elements and sound design to give your recording a cohesive and complete feel. It also includes removing any unwanted noise, editing your tracks so they're in time, and ensuring all recorded tracks maintain a proper level of fidelity.

A VERSATILE APPROACH

If you've recorded a folk ballad featuring just your voice and your guitar, common production elements may include a subtle piano arrangement to help support the guitar part, or the addition of some string instrument harmonies to widen and warm the recording, while simultaneously creating depth and dimension.

Perhaps you and your band have tracked a pop punk song, but the guitars just don't feel powerful and punchy enough. Or the rhythm section is not moving with the same groove you'd imagined. We'll apply traditional overdubbing techniques in order to strengthen, solidify and liven your recordings so the quality of your record matches that of your writing and performance.

Whether it's adding backing vocals to help guide your lead vocal, or adding low-end to your beat via the right 808 pattern or bass line, we can bring your recording to the level you envisioned when you began the songwriting process.

If you have specific musical elements or production ideas you'd like us to incorporate, just let us know!

TURNAROUND

Generally it will take between 3 and 4 days to produce a song in its entirety. Depending on the genre however, it is possible that less time will be necessary. In specific cases (bands with very few recorded tracks), production time may take up to a week.

RE-RECORDED ELEMENTS

Occasionally a song may contain parts that would benefit from being re-recorded. We can learn and record any of your instrumental parts that may have been inadequately engineered or performed. If it is important that you be the one to perform specific parts of your song, we'll happily advise you on how to re-track any parts that may not be usable. If you are only performing one part of your song and simply want the rest of the arrangement to sound as good as you do, we'll take care of any re-tracking at no extra cost*.

OUTSOURCING FOR DRUMS

In many cases where your song lacks a rhythm section but needs one, the solution can be supplied via a programmed beat. However, if you wish for your song to feature live drum tracks, or you have a song that does not lend itself well to the sound of programmed drums (i.e. most heavier rock music, country, traditional folk), we can outsource to our professional session drummer who is based in Nashville. Doing so will add 2-3 days to the total production time, as well as an additional fee.

PRICING

Flat rate of $150 USD per song

Produced song + mix ($250 Value) - $200 USD

Live drum tracking - $40

One free revision. Subsequent revisions - $25 per song, per revision

For EP and LP rates, fill out the contact page form with details about the scope of your project, and we'll give you a specific quote for your record, based on how much overdubbing/mixing will be necessary.

A rough balance mix of the song is included in the price of production. This means no processing, just pan knobs and volume faders set at optimal levels so you can hear a rough version of how your song will sound before you have it mixed properly. If you would like your song fully mixed with the production, the price per mix is slightly cheaper.
